| Secondary abstract: | The paper will focus on the political dimension of two comics belonging to the golden era of the Italian comic-book genre fumetto nero: Guido Crepax's Valentina and Magnus & Bunker's Alan Ford. My claim is that their respective provocative effectiveness is the result of combination of two artistic approaches. Following Deleuze, I will name the first approach "pornological reflection" (i.e. the comic-book's specific capacity to mirror the perversities that are inherent to society). The second approach, I will describe as "metaphysical" - for it consists of the artist's capacity to "capture" (deeper layers of political) reality within its seemingly false negations. |
