Abstract

Children and adolescents are a very vulnerable group among which risky behavior can rapidly appear, so it is necessary that they have health education addressed both by the teachers and by the health personnel. School cares for the health of their children and all employees through various programs and projects such as the School for Health, Eco School, Healthy lifestyle and others. The purpose of this thesis is to introduce health promotion in primary school and find out who participates and how to participate in the promotion of health of primary school pupils. Research methodology: In this thesis the descriptive and quantitative work methods were used. To collect data we used a structured questionnaire which contained 10 questions (2 closed, one open and 7 semi-open type of questions). The research took place in one of primary schools in Maribor. The study involved 21 teachers. Results: Based on data analysis, we found out that most activities and content were carried out on the days of activities (cultural, natural scientific and sports day), executors are mostly teachers. We also found out that the teachers get the knowledge of the health promotion from the internet and that they focus mostly on healthy nutrition issues. More than half of the respondents estimate that nurses are not involved enough in the health education of primary school pupils. Conclusion: The school is an important place for the implementation of the health promotion among children and adolescents. We found out that teachers have in promoting the health of primary school, a big role, because most of the activities and contents for health promotion is implemented by them. The majority of teachers would like to include more nurses in health promotion of primary school children, particularly those concerning sexual education and first aid.
