Abstract

Secondary title: Implementation of mother tongue and culture complementary instruction in slovenian primary schools
Secondary abstract: This diploma paper is based on the research about implementation of Mother tongue and culture complementary instruction in Slovenian primary schools (DPMJK). In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport and the National Education Institute Slovenia I conducted a survey, which covers empirical part of diploma paper. In the survey were involved principals, teachers, parents and children attending complementary instruction. I have focused on the actual process of teaching and finding out, what kind of changes and additions the participants are suggesting. In theoretical part I have emphasized the importance of preservation of the mother tongue and introduced some of the documents that include integration of immigrants in the Slovenian school system. I have pointed out the intercultural dialogue in schools and the importance of teacher’s motivation and flexibility for the successful implementation of teaching. Data analysis showed that all of the participants are mostly satisfied with the course of the complementary instruction. There were some prepositions for changes and update. Complementary instruction is mainly implemented by the recommendations of Načrt/usmeritve za dopolnilni pouk maternih jezikov in kultur za pripadnike drugih jezikovnih in kulturnih skupnosti v Sloveniji, Smernice za vključevanje otrok priseljencev v vrtce in šole and some other documents.
