Abstract

Secondary title: Approaches to teaching alpine skiing to younger children in practice
Secondary abstract: The purpose of diploma thesis was to establish the different ways of approaches of alpine schools in practice. In this diploma thesis we used descriptive method of empirical pedagogical research, because several alpine schools were included in the process of pedagogical research. The diploma thesis is based mainly on the study of different literature and on our own observation and assessment of different alpine schools' teaching and also on the final interviewing of children at the end of the course. We established that there is no difference in using different approaches at teaching to children in alpine schools. At observation at the ski slopes we established that using different approaches depends on the teacher and the parents' wish. We also established that the organisation of alpine schools is important too. Most of the alpine schools organises all-day courses or even several days lasting courses. Only one ski school organises shorter course, lasting two hours at the most. That alpine school has several short courses during the day. That means that the course participants have one or two organised lessons and then the teacher brings them back to parents in the ski base and takes the next participating children. We established that there are few individual trainings and more frontal ones. Individual trainings are more expensive and therefore the parents choose frontal teaching. Using the monitoring paper and the final interview we established that encouragement is very important to a child and gives the child the additional motivation.
