Abstract

Učenci so bili razdeljeni v kontrolno in eksperimentalno skupino.

Secondary title: Biology instruction using an electronic textbook
Secondary abstract: With the introduction of the use of tablet computers in schools, researches of the impact of digital contents on knowledge and views of the students started to emerge. Positive aspects are reflected in motivating students to work, faster and easier access to data, easier carrying around, more efficient writing, better cooperation between students, and better cooperation of students and teachers. All these aspects relate primarily to students´ views on tablet computers, but there is little data on the combined impact of electronic textbooks and tablets on the knowledge and views of students. The survey was aimed at determining the impact of the use of two selected electronic textbooks for biology on tablets on the knowledge of students and their attitudes toward the use of electronic textbooks on tablets. The study included 122 students of the 8th and 9th grades during biology classes. Students were divided into a control group and an experimental group. Students in the experimental group were using electronic textbooks on tablets, while the lessons in the control group took place using comparatively equivalent printed textbooks. We have found out that the use of electronic textbook on the tablets had almost no effect on learning outcomes; in general, progress in students was small or even negligible. But there were positive aspects shown in students, who otherwise had not used electronic textbook on a tablet during biology class, namely as a more positive attitude to the use thereof.
