Abstract

V prvem delu smo opisali anatomijo možganov, možganske tumorje in vrste možganskih tumorjev. V nadaljevanju smo izpostavili epidemiologijo, klasifikacijo tumorjev, klinično sliko, diagnostiko in potek zdravljenja. V drugem delu diplomskega dela smo predstavili zdravstveno nego pacienta z možganskim tumorjem. Izpostavili smo definicijo zdravstvene nege in vlogo medicinske sestre v zdravstveni dejavnosti.

Secondary title: Nursing care of a patient with a brain tumor
Secondary abstract: Theoretical background: the content contains two parts. In the first part we had described the brain anatomy, brain tumours and the types of brain tumours. Then we had highlighted the epidemiology, the tumor classification system, clinical picture, diagnostics and the most common treatment. In the second part of our work we had presented the nursing care of a patient with a brain tumor. We wrote down the definition of the nursing care and described the role of a nurse in a health system. Below we explained the admission of a patient to the hospital and how we prepare a patient for the surgery. At the end we wrote about nursing care of a patient after surgery and discharge a patient from the hospital. Methodology: in this thesis we used descriptive methods by studying domestic and foreign literature. Criteria which were taken into account were placing diagnosis brain tumor, the treatment of brain tumor and the role of a nurse in treating a patient. Results: in the case study, we found that men get malignant brain tumor twice as often as women. We also confirmed that a nurse has a big part in the prevention of post-operative complications. She can prevent the complications with teaching a patient before the surgery and a proper postoperative nursing care. Conclusion: despite diagnosis brain tumor it is important to maintain positive minds and the will to live. We must be aware that such a way of thinking decisively contributes to recovery.
