magistrsko delo
Abstract
Zanimive so razlike v izobraževanju učiteljev v Sloveniji in Veliki Britaniji.

Comparison of the British and Slovene educational system and their polemics |
Secondary abstract: |
In this master's thesis we searched for parallels and differences between the Slovene and British educational system, and we found their current polemics and compared them. In Great Britain there are smaller differences already within the country itself because it consists of three regions: England, Wales, and Scotland. We were especially interested in conducting a review of compulsory education, and we also glanced through non-compulsory education. The British educational system is based on qualification, but our school system is based on levels. Therefore, in this thesis we also compared transitions between levels of education or career paths which pupils follow. The differences in teacher education in Slovenia and Great Britain are rather interesting. While we have widespread undergraduate and graduate studies, England and Wales know other forms of education as well. In Slovenia a private school system is present only to a smaller extent and is mainly funded from public funds. However, in England the private school system is widespread. Throughout the whole Great Britain it is funded from private funds. Religious instruction is prohibited in our schools, but in Great Britain they attribute to it a greater meaning because they also carry out Christian collective worship in school areas. If in Great Britain, especially in England, school uniforms are a symbol of tradition, there is no sign of their initiation in Slovenia. Both countries come up against feminization of teaching profession, yet Great Britain compared to Slovenia does not face any surplus of teachers. They are rather facing a shortage of mathematics, science, and language teachers. |
