diplomsko delo

Abstract

Secondary title: THE PHENOMENON OF PROPORTIONS IN ARTISTIC EXPRESSION AND STRUCTURE OF THE PAINTING SURFACE
Secondary abstract: The purpose of this thesis was to research the spatial proportions that have been present in all fields of art throughout history. These proportions have often been subject to research and attempts of generalisation. The study of researches and uses of proportional theories through historic periods has shown that the understanding and the use of proportions are closely connected to the certain historic period. The golden section has always been exposed as a universal proportion in nature and art. The influence of proportions on a composition, on the contents of the work of art as well as on the visual perception, was also examined. From this point of view special attention was also paid to gestalt psychology. The exposed form of art was painting, the highlights were on its format and the structure of the painted surface. Different ways of format structuring that can serve as guidelines for composing were discussed. Proportions, whether consciously or intuitively chosen, are always intentional in an artistic expression and are not accidental, which was proven through the practical part as well. The integrity of a painting is always in the foreground. It is a result of the artistic expression, subjectivity and the ability to harmonize all the consisting parts of a work of art, including spatial relationships between elements of fine arts, tensions and rules of composition, regarding the contents and the message of a work of art.
