Abstract

Secondary abstract: Foreign direct investments are investments when the investor owns more than a 10% ownership share. Foreign direct investments are done for many reasons including low taxes and the lowest expenses. Company owners are aware of the fact that if they wish to remain competitive they will have to invest in the growth and the development of their companies as well as to enter the foreign market, which certainly cannot be realized without foreign direct investments. In Slovenia foreign direct investments are supported by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and JAPTI that provide the best publicity for Slovenia and at the same time they also provide incentives to encourage investors to invest in our country. The influence of foreign direct investments depends on the economic system. In the majority of cases foreign direct investments do not lead to negative consequences in the economy.
