Naredili bomo pregled sestave prepričevalnega govora in zapisali, kako že prastare civilizacije zapuščajo dragoceno znanje o retoričnem govoru. Kasneje bomo opisali vseh sedem univerzalnih principov prepričevanja.

Sekundarni povzetek: Rhetoric as a persuasion skill is one of the most important skills in the modern society. Speakers who are good rhetoricians and know how to use rhetoric principles properly can turn this into their advantage. Normally, those who deal with persuasion or manipulation as part of their profession have a detailed knowledge of Rhetoric; however, this does not mean that knowledge of Rhetoric could not be useful to other people. In the modern society we daily find ourselves in various speaking situations. These can be simple everyday talks, or Rhetoric situations from which at least one of the speakers has a certain profit. Such situations are very well planned in advance by those who profit from them. Such persons enter into contact with others with the intention of gaining profit from them. In such cases knowledge of Rhetoric can be useful to those who do not use it normally. It can help them recognize manipulation strategies that are being tried on them in the speaking situation and thus to resist them. Since knowledge of the principles of Rhetoric can be useful in everyday life, it could be introduced already to children. In Slovenia, there is a lack of research on the understanding and the use of Rhetoric among primary school students, and no research exists that would deal with the universal principles of persuasion. In primary school, Rhetoric as a science is not given special attention. In grade nine, Rhetoric is offered to students as a separate course and they can study it in detail; however, before grade nine they do not come into contact with it. And even in grade nine Rhetoric is only an elective course. Research in this field is also scarce worldwide, therefore this Master's thesis will focus on the comparison of the understanding of the universal principles of persuasion among students of grade five and students of grade nine. In the following, Rhetoric as a science will be presented, as well as its history. The structure of persuasion speech will be analysed, and knowledge of ancient civilizations on rhetoric speech will be presented. In addition, the seven universal principles of persuasion will be described, as were defined through research by Robert B. Cialdini, who deals with manipulation strategies and their influences on society. The Master's thesis will focus on students' understanding of the universal principles of persuasion. We will try to determine whether students understand the universal principles of persuasion-despite the fact that they are not acquainted with rhetoric principles, at least not before grade nine. The answers of students in grade five will be compared to those of students in grade one in order to determine to what extent the students comprehend the effectiveness of these principles and how they interpret them.
