magistrsko delo
V povprečju so intervjuji trajali 46 minut.

Psychoterapists' responses to losing a client due to suicide |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
The suicide risk rate of people with mental disorders is estimated to be twelve times higher compared to the risk rate of the general population. Psychotherapists and other mental health professionals (psychologists, psychiatrists) who encounter a more suicidal population on a daily basis are very likely to encounter the suicide of the client, who is being treated, at least once during their professional careers. The loss of a client due to suicide is considered one of the most traumatic events that can happen in the career of a professional, with responses and consequences on both a personal and professional level. In the master's thesis we investigated how psychotherapists and other mental health professionals experience a client's suicide. The research is based on the qualitative research method. Based on the principles of grounded theory, we analyzed eleven in-depth interviews conducted with eight psychiatrists and four clinical psychologists. On average, the interviews lasted 46 minutes. After analyzing the data, we organized 784 quotations, 78 codes and 4 smart codes into 9 main concepts: expectations, preparations, work of therapists, experiencing suicide, procedures after a suicide, contact with relatives, coping, support, consequences. We combined all the concepts into an Indoor flower model, which represents our findings in a holistic and abstract way. |
