Povzetek

Uvod: Anoreksija nervoza se najpogosteje pojavlja pri ženskah, starih 15–20 let in je povezana z družinskimi, sociokulturnimi, genetskimi in biološkimi dejavniki. Zanjo je značilen strah pred pridobivanjem telesne mase, nizka telesna masa in njeno zanikanje, nizek indeks telesne mase in amenoreja, pogosto pa se pojavijo še osteoporoza in zmanjšana mišična zmogljivost ter depresija, anksiozne motnje, obsesivno kompulzivna motnja in perfekcionizem. Vadba proti uporu vpliva na izboljšanje mišične zmogljivosti in indeks telesne mase pri zdravih posameznikih, ni pa še natančno znano kakšen vpliv ima na osebe z anoreksijo nervozo. Namen: Namen diplomskega dela je bil na podlagi pregledane literature ugotoviti, ali vadba proti uporu izboljša mišično zmogljivost pri osebah z anoreksijo nervozo. Metode dela: Uporabljena je bila deskriptivna metoda raziskovanja. Iskanje literature je potekalo v podatkovnih zbirkah Web of Science Core Collection in PubMed. Članki so bili iskani v časovnem obdobju od 2006 do 2023 z naslednjimi ključnimi besedami: resistance training, physiotherapy, muscle strength in anorexia nervosa. Rezultati: V pregled literature je bilo vključenih pet raziskav. Štiri raziskave so primerjale izboljšanje mišične zmogljivosti med poskusno in primerjalno skupino, ki ni izvajala vadbe proti uporu, ena raziskava pa je primerjala izboljšanje mišične zmogljivosti le pri poskusni skupini pred in po intervenciji. V štirih pregledanih raziskavah je bilo dokazano, da se mišična zmogljivost izboljša pri osebah z anoreksijo nervozo, ki so izvajale vadbo proti uporu. Razprava in zaključek: Vadba proti uporu izboljša mišično zmogljivost pri osebah z anoreksijo nervozo, vendar se le ta še vedno redko prakticira v kliničnem okolju. Potrebnih bi bilo več raziskav, ki bi vključevale večje vzorce in več oseb moškega spola ter raziskave, s katerimi bi se določile natančne smernice za izvajanje vadbe proti uporu pri osebah z anoreksijo nervozo in bi vadba ob njihovem upoštevanju bila najbolj varna in učinkovita.

Sekundarni povzetek: Introduction: Anorexia nervosa most often occurs in women aged 15 – 20 years and is associated with family, sociocultural, genetic and biological factors. It is characterized by fear of gaining weight, low body weight and its denial, low body mass index, and amenorrhea. It is also often associated with osteoporosis and reduced muscle strength, as well as depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and perfectionism. Resistance training improves muscle strength and body mass index in healthy individuals, but it is not yet exactly known what effect it has on people with anorexia nervosa. Purpose: The purpose of this diploma was to determine, based on the reviewed literature, whether resistance training improves muscle strength in people with anorexia nervosa. Methods: A descriptive research method was used. Literature was searched in two databases – Web of Science Core Collection and PubMed. Articles were searched in the time period from 2006 to 2023 with the following keywords: resistance training, physiotherapy, muscle strength and anorexia nervosa. Results: Five studies were included in the literature review. Four studies compared improvement in muscle strength between experimental and comparison group, which did not perform resistance training, and one study compared improvement in muscle strength only in the experimental group before and after the intervention. In the four studies reviewed, muscle strength improved in people with anorexia nervosa who did resistance exercise. Discussion and conclusion: Resistance training improves muscle strength in people with anorexia nervosa, but it is still rarely practiced in clinical setting. More research would be needed, including larger samples and more male subjects, and also a research that would determine the exact guidelines of resistance training for anorexics so that training would be as safe and effective as possible.
