Sekundarni povzetek:	Kostanjevica na Krki is one of the smallest Slovenian towns located in southeastern Slovenia. Initially, the town was situated on a meander of the river Krka, but in order to protect the old town against the Turks the inhabitants dug out an additional part of the river, joining two curves of the meander. Thus the town was protected by a natural obstacle, the River Krka. Today the » Venice of Lower Carniola« is well known to tourists, who fill the town in the summer months and look with interest at the architecture, the well known buildings and features outside the island ( Kostanjevica Cave, Cistercian monastery, Forma Viva) and use the boats that take them along the River Krka, offering a wonderful view of the old town. In the thesis there is a geographical presentation of the town, a presentation of the key cultural and historic monuments in Kostanjevica and a presentation the people who created the town's history. In the empirical part, the results of a survey investigating how often teachers carry out orientation and how much pupils know about the cultural and historical monuments in their home town are presented. In the last part of the thesis a didactic school hour is presented. It was carried out with the pupils of the fourth class of the Jože Gorjup primary school in Kostanjevica.

Povzetek (ePrints):	Kostanjevica na Krki je eno izmed najmanjših slovenskih mest, ki leži v jugovzhodni Sloveniji. Mesto je prvotno ležalo na okljuku reke Krke, vendar so domačini v želji po zaščiti in obrambi mestnega jedra pred Turki, ročno izkopali še del struge reke tako, da je bilo mesto varovano z naravo oviro, tj. vodo oziroma reko Krko. Danes so »Dolenjske Benetke«, znane predvsem turistom, ki v poletnih mesecih napolnijo mestece in z zanimanjem opazujejo arhitekturo, znane zgradbe zunaj Otoka (Kostanjeviško jamo, cistercijanski samostan, forma vivo) ter izkoristijo ponudbo plovil, katera jih popeljejo po Krki in jim ponujajo čudovit pogled na starodavno mesto. V diplomskem delu je geografska predstavitev mesta, predstavitev ključnih kulturnozgodovinskih spomenikov v Kostanjevici na Krki in ljudi, ki so izoblikovali zgodovino mesta. V empiričnem delu so geografsko in opisno predstavljeni rezultati ankete, s katero sem želela izvedeti, kako pogosto učitelji izvajajo orientacijo in kako učenci poznajo kulturnozgodovinske spomenike v domačem mestu. V zadnjem delu pa je opisana didaktična učna ura, ki sem jo izvedla z učenci 4. razreda OŠ Jožeta Gorjupa Kostanjevica na Krki.
