Sekundarni naslov: | The importance of measuring the postvoid residual urine in patients with multiple sclerosis |
Sekundarni povzetek: | Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic incurable disease of the central nervous system (CNS). It is the most common cause of disability in young people. Clinical symptoms and signs of MS vary and depend on the location of the lesion in the CNS. Bladder dysfunction is rarely present at the beginning of the disease but is common after ten years of diagnosis and occur in about 75 to 90 % of MS patients. The commonest symptoms are urgency, urinary frequency, urge incontinence and incomplete voiding. The purpose of our study was to find out early bladder dysfunction and to find possible correlation between the degree of clinical disability by using the Kurtzke Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) and prevalence of bladder dysfunction. |
