Povzetek

V diplomski nalogi smo raziskovali prisotnost in uporabo klora v industrijskih procesih. Preučili smo, kje in zakaj se klor uporablja, kako ga skladiščijo in prečrpavajo. Osredotočili smo se na ocenjevanje tveganja večjih nesreč ob izpustu klora. Za primer iz literature smo prikazali študijo HAZOP, izračunali pretok izteklega klora, toksičnost in disperzijo. Na podlagi izračunanih vrednosti smo določili razdalje, na katerih klor doseže različne škodljive vrednosti koncentracij. Dobljene rezultate iz literature smo primerjali z vrednostmi, ki smo jih izračunali s programom PHAST. Incidentom smo določili pogostost, individualno in skupinsko tveganje ter indekse tveganja. V drugem delu smo definirali možne scenarije za slovenski industrijski obrat, v katerem poteka proizvodnja, skladiščenje in transport klora. S programom PHAST smo na podlagi podatkov, dobljenih v obratu, izračunali pretok klora za šest različnih scenarijev in določili razdalje, na katerih klor doseže določene koncentracije, kot so vrednosti ERPG, IDLH in AEGL, ter jih primerjali z vrednostmi, ki so jih dobili v podjetju. Rezultati ocen tveganja kažejo, da lahko že manjše napake in nepravilnosti pri ravnanju s klorom privedejo do hudih posledic, saj so območja vpliva velika že pri manjših izpustih. Zato mora vsako podjetje, ki se ukvarja z nevarnimi snovmi, izvesti celovito oceno tveganja za zmanjšanje nevarnosti in ustrezno ukrepanje ob izrednih dogodkih.

Sekundarni povzetek: In this diploma work, the presence and the usage of chlorine in industrial processes have been investigated. We studied where and for what purposes the chlorine is used, how it is stored and transported. We focused on the risk assessment of large accidents due to chlorine release. The HAZOP study was demonstrated for the literature case study, together with the calculations of discharge rate, toxicity and dispersion. Based on the calculated values the radial distances were determined at which chlorine concentrations reach harmful values. We compared the results from the literature to the values we calculated with the program PHAST. The frequency of incidents, individual and societal risk, and risk indices were determined. In the second part, the possible scenarios were defined for the Slovenian industrial plant in which the production, storage and transportation of chlorine take place. Based on the information acquired, we calculated discharge flow rates of chlorine for six different scenarios by using PHAST program, as well as the distances at which chlorine reaches certain concentrations, such as the ERPG, IDLH and AEGL values. The results were compared with those values acquired in the company. The outcomes of risk assessment show that even small failures and irregularities when handling the chlorine can lead to severe consequences because the affected areas are large even at small releases. That is why every company dealing with dangerous substances has to perform a complete risk assessment in order to reduce the hazards, and to act properly in the case of incidents.
