Black carbon measurements |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
This thesis is based on the comparison between black carbon measurements on two parallel bicycle routes in the City Municipality of Celje. One of them runs along the Mariborska Street, which is renowned for having one of the highest degrees of saturation with traffic, and we delineated the other one along the path that is assumed to be less polluted and time consuming. In order to be able to do that we had to thoroughly study the road network of Celje, its density and the categorization of roads as well as describe the course of the main traffic roads. After concluding the analysis of the performed measurements we found that the mean concentration of black carbon on the alternative route was just below 3000 ng/m3, while the mean concentration on the Mariborska route reached up to 5000 ng/m3. Nevertheless, we have to stress that high values in the form of peaks were noted along both routes, although the peaks were much more frequent along the Mariborska street. We also cycled both routes and found that the alternative route took us a minute less than the Mariborska route. We can therefore confirm that the cyclists could be redirected to a faster alternative route where their exposure to pollution is lower. After studying the roads in Celje we also found that the City Municipality of Celje itself should participate in establishing the alternative route. |
