magistrsko delo
Določili smo izkoristek biooglja pridobljenega s HTC ter izmerili zeta potencial, specifično površino, volumen por, povprečni premer por in velikost delcev.

Adsorption of heavy metals on biochar |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
The purpose of this thesis was to study the adsorption properties of biochar derived from waste biomass by the hydrothermal carbonization process (HTC) for the adsorption of heavy metals, i.e., Cd2+ and Pb2+ ions. As a waste biomaterial, we used the bark of deciduous trees with a high proportion of tannins, which is a chestnut.
We determined the yield of biochar obtained with HTC and measured the zeta potential, the specific surface area, the pore volume, the average pore diameter, and the size of the particles. Biochars were prepared without and with the addition of acetic acid, and the results were compared. The average yield and mass of the two obtained samples were similar. Then we equilibrated the adsorption of Cd2+ and Pb2+ ions depending on the pH and concentration of the starting solution. The equilibrium adsorption of Pb2+ ions in pH dependence was best at pH 2. The maximum lead adsorbent capacity was reached at a concentration of 12 mM and amounted to 151.8 mg/g of adsorbent. Adsorption of Cd2+ ions was highest at pH 5, but the amount of adsorbed ion was much lower than Pb2+ ions. The largest specific surface area had biochar without the addition of acetic acid, which amounted to 12.8229 m2/g. The minimum value of the zeta potential of -19,00 mV was the sample of broken biochar obtained with the addition of acetic acid. The particle size was the highest in non-fragmented biochar particles. In this case, the maximum average diameter of biochar was obtained without acetic acid addition, which amounted to 3248 nm. |
