magistrsko delo
Povzetek
Spletna socialna omrežja so v zadnjem času pritegnila pozornost raziskovalcev zaradi razširjenosti svojega socialnega in psihološkega učinka.

Promotion of healthy lifestyle on Facebook in connection to self-image, self-esteem and life satisfaction |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
Due to the extent of their social and psychological effect, social media have caught the attention of researchers. Most studies focus on Facebook, since it is one of the largest and most popular social media networks. This Master's Thesis researches the connection between the use of Facebook and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. The research shows the connection between Facebook and the individual's satisfaction in life. Moreover, the research focuses on the effect the Facebook promotion of a healthy life style has on the individual's self-image and self-esteem. For the purpose of this Thesis, a survey in form of an online questionnaire was conducted on a sample of 323 participants; 84 of the participants were male and 239 were female, all between the ages 14 and 66. The questionnaire includes the Facebook intensity scale (FIS), Rosenberg self-esteem scale (RSES), Self-description questionnaire III (SDQ III) and Satisfaction with life scale (SWLS). Furthermore, the questionnaire contains questions on healthy life style promotion on Facebook. The statistical analysis confirmed the negative connection between the intensity of Facebook use and life satisfaction. The more time the individual spends on Facebook, the less he or she is satisfied with life. However, there is no statistically significant difference between life style and keeping track of the promotions. The research shows that keeping track of promotions does not motivate individuals for a more frequent Facebook use. Moreover, there is no statistically significant difference between the genders and their decision on a healthy life style. Merely, females decide more frequently to do the promotional exercises than males. Furthermore, the research shows that there is no statistically significant difference between the individual's self-image and self-esteem of those who follow healthy life style promotion on Facebook and those who do not follow the promotion. In conclusion, the results show the importance of further research on the connection between Facebook and a healthy life style. |
