Povzetek
V magistrskem delu smo raziskali izzive, s katerimi se srečujejo osebe z disleksijo skozi celoten razvojni potek od otroštva do odraslosti. V teoretičnem delu smo povzeli nekatere definicije ter teoretične razlage disleksije in njeno izražanje skozi različna razvojna obdobja, vezana na potek znotraj izobraževalnega sistema. Predstavili smo zakonodajne možnosti prilagajanja vzgojno izobraževalnega procesa osebam z disleksijo v slovenskem prostoru. V nadaljevanju smo se osredotočili na značilnosti in posebne potrebe oseb z disleksijo v obdobju odraslosti. Na podlagi ugotovitev o drugačnem kognitivnem funkcioniranju oseb z disleksijo smo opisali izzive, ki se v obdobju odraslosti pojavljajo na področju pomnjenja, organizacije, postavljanja ciljev in socialnih veščin. Ob tem smo predstavili dejavnike uspešne adaptacije oseb z disleksijo v odraslosti. Opisali smo primer delovanja britanskega sistema pomoči in podpore za odrasle osebe z disleksijo kot primer dobre prakse. V empiričnem delu smo s študijo primera mlajše odrasle osebe z disleksijo s pomočjo osebnih izkušenj, pridobljenih z intervjujem, osvetlili problematiko življenja z disleksijo skozi različna razvojna obdobja. Pri tem smo se osredotočali na osebno interpretacijo disleksije in njenega izražanja v širšem okolju (družina, šola, vrstniki) skozi odraščanje. Raziskali smo dejavnike in strategije, ki so intervjuvanki omogočile uspešno premagovanje primanjkljajev tekom izobraževanja in tranzicije iz šolskega v poklicno okolje. Preverili smo, ali se na izbranem primeru odrasle osebe z disleksijo pojavljajo izzivi na področju pomnjenja, organizacije, postavljanja ciljev in socialnih veščin. Na podlagi ugotovitev smo oblikovali smernice za delo z osebami z disleksijo in tako prispevali k razvoju strokovnega področja, ki se osredotoča zlasti na izobraževalno okolje, kljub temu da ga primanjkljaji, ki so posledica prisotnosti disleksije pri posamezniku, presegajo in ostajajo prisotni vse življenje.

Overcoming challenges of living with dyslexia from childhood to adulthood – case study |

In our master's thesis we explored the challenges persons with dyslexia face throughout their entire development from childhood to adulthood. In the theoretical part we summarized some definitions and theoretical explanations of dyslexia and how it is manifested in different development stages connected to the progression within the educational system. We presented the legal possibilities of adjusting the educational process to people with dyslexia in Slovenia. In the next part we focused on the characteristics and special needs of persons with dyslexia in the stage of adulthood. On the basis of findings regarding the different cognitive functioning of people with dyslexia we described the challenges that occur in the stage of adulthood in the areas of memory, organization, setting personal goals and social skills. We also presented the factors of successful adjustment of people with dyslexia in their adulthood. We described the model of a British help and support system for adults with dyslexia as an example of good practice. In the empirical part we used the case study of a young adult and their own personal experience obtained in an interview to highlight the problems of living with dyslexia in different development stages. We focused on the personal interpretation of dyslexia and how it is manifested in the wider environment (family, school, peers) while growing up. We explored the factors and strategies that have enabled the interviewee to successfully overcome difficulties in the course of their education and transition from a school environment into a professional one. We checked whether our chosen case study of an adult with dyslexia shows challenges in the areas memory, organization, setting personal goals and social skills. On the basis of our findings, we formed guidelines for working with people with dyslexia and in this way contributed to the development of the area of expertise that focuses particularly on the educational environment, in spite of the fact that the difficulties that are the result of dyslexia in an individual, exceed it and stay present throughout one's entire life. |
