Sekundarni povzetek: | This thesis focuses on problems of literary characters within extreme life circumstances. I take A Menuet for Guitar by Vitomil Zupan as a starting work, and Ernest Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls as its comparative novel. Zupan's novel is structured around two separate narratives: the first takes place during World War II in Slovenia, and the second is situated thirty years later on the Spanish coast in a resort atmosphere. The narrative background of Hemingway's novel is the Spanish Civil War in the second part of the 1930s. The two stories share similar bases of narrative themes and time elements. However the issues of their main literary characters are posed and brought to light in quite different ways. |
