Povzetek

Tine Šrot je bil eden izmed pomembnejših vrhunskih športnikov v Sloveniji in bivši Jugoslaviji, ki je svojo življenjsko pot usmeril v gimnastiko. Z Mirom Cerarjem na čelu je nastopil na številnih domačih in tujih prvenstvih in dosegal vrhunske rezultate in dosežke. Tine Šrot se je rodil 10. avgusta leta 1938 v Celju. Njegovo otroštvo in mladost sta zaznamovali druga svetovna vojna in splošno pomanjkanje, vendar je v povezanosti z naravo in ljubeznijo do športa nevede odkril svoj talent za več športov, še posebej za gimnastiko. Športna pot je zanj pomenila beg iz socialne stiske po eni strani, po drugi strani pa je bila zanj od nekdaj velika radost. Leta 1963 je na evropskem prvenstvu osvojil bronasto medaljo na preskoku. Veliko je pripomogel k razpoznavnosti tako Jugoslavije kot tudi Slovenije. S svojo iskrenostjo in spodbujanjem je pripomogel tudi k dvigu uspehov drugih telovadcev. Za svoje delo v gimnastiki je prejel številna priznanja. Šolal se je na srednji šoli za oblikovanje, saj je bilo oblikovanje nakita njegova druga ljubezen. Uveljavil se je tudi kot zlatar. Izdelal je številne skulpture za priznanja vrhunskim športnikom. Kljub temu da je bil vrhunski športnik je dokončal še Visoko šolo za telesno kulturo, predhodnico Fakultete za šport. Avtor je v diplomskem delu opisal športno pot Tineta Šrota, nekaj njegovih največjih uspehov v gimnastični karieri in njegovo poklicno pot.

Sekundarni povzetek: Tine Šrot was one of the best elite athletes in Slovenia and former Yugoslavia who dedicated his life to gymnastics. Together with Miro Cerar he participated in several domestic and foreign competitions attaining superior results. He was born on 10th August 1938 in Celje. His childhood and youth were marked by the second world war and general poverty. Through his connection with nature he discovered his talent for all sports, especially gymnastics. Sport saved him from poverty and was his joy. In 1963 he won bronze medal in men's vault. His success resulted in a wider recognition of Yugoslavia and Slovenia in the world. With his sincerity and encouragement he helped to the success of other gymnasts. He has received several awards for his work in the field of gymnastics. He studied at high school for design as jewelry design was his second love. He was recognized as goldsmith and created several sculptures for elite athletes in recognition of their achievements. Although he was an elite athlet he studied at College for Physical Culture in Ljubljana. In present diploma paper the sports career of Tone Šrot, some of his most notable gymnastic achievements and his professional career are described.
