Povzetek

V današnjem času spletna družbena omrežja predstavljajo pomemben del vsakdanjega življenja posameznika, predvsem zaradi komunikacijskega vidika uporabe. Zaradi te in še mnogih drugih funkcij, postajajo spletna družbena omrežja med vsemi generacijami vse bolj priljubljena in obiskana, pri čemer najbolj izstopa družbeno socialno omrežje Facebook. Slednje se vse bolj uporablja tudi znotraj izobraževalnega področja, predvsem na področju terciarnega izobraževanja, kjer ga študentje in tudi profesorji uporabljajo kot novo didaktično orodje. S svojimi različnimi funkcijami zapolni vrzeli med formalnim in neformalnim učenjem. Namen našega magistrskega dela je preučiti, kako študentke in študenti Filozofske fakultete Univerze v Mariboru (UM), Pedagoške Fakultete (UM), Fakultete za naravoslovje in matematiko (UM) ter Fakultete za elektrotehniko, računalništvo in informatiko (UM) uporabljajo spletno družbeno omrežje Facebook v izobraževalne namene v času študija. Pri tem nas je zanimalo ali študentke in študenti uporabljajo Facebook, kako pogosto ga uporabljajo in za katere namene. Skladno s tem smo preučili uporabo Facebooka glede na spol, letnik študija in učni uspeh. Analizirali smo odnos med uporabo Facebooka v družabne namene in neposrednimi interakcijami v realnem svetu, kot tudi odnos med uporabo Facebooka v družabne namene in premostitvenim socialnim kapitalom. Podatki za analizo so bili pridobljeni s pomočjo enostavnega priložnostnega vzorca študentk in študentov UM FF, PEF, FNM in FERI-ja (N = 326). Rezultati analize empiričnih podatkov so pokazali, da študentke in študenti najbolj pogosto uporabljajo Facebook za ohranjanje že obstoječih socialnih vezi in vzpostavljanje novih. Kot drugi pomemben razlog uporabe navajajo tudi uporabo za izobraževalne namene. Ob velikem številu spletnih prijateljev preko Facebooka ohranjajo pristne prijateljske vezi v vsakdanjem realnem življenju, tako da Facebook po njihovem ne vpliva negativno na neposredne interakcije v realnem svetu. S številom "običajnih prijateljev" se zviša tudi delež "Facebook prijateljev". Prav tako smo z raziskavo ugotovili, da je intenzivna uporaba Facebooka v družabne namene pozitivno povezana s študentovim premostitvenim socialnim kapitalom. Tisti študentje, ki pogosteje uporabljajo Facebook za družabne namene, le tega pogosteje uporabljajo tudi za izobraževalne namene. Študentje za pridobivanje informacij in gradiv za študij v večji meri uporabljajo Facebook kot pa Moodle. Naša raziskava je potrdila, da študentke pogosteje uporabljajo Facebook za izobraževalne namene kot študentje. Rezultati so tudi pokazali, da so statistično značilne razlike med različno starimi študenti v uporabi Facebooka za izobraževalne namene. V povprečju ga pogosteje uporabljajo študenti 3. letnika, pogosto tudi študenti 1. in 4. letnika. Prav tako sama uporaba Facebooka ni povezana s študentovim končnim učnim uspehom. Rezultati analiz glede uporabe Facebooka za izobraževalne namene med fakultetami so si zelo podobni, pri čemer smo ugotovili, da med fakultetami ni statistično značilnih razlik glede uporabe Facebooka za izobraževalne namene.

Sekundarni povzetek: In the modern world social media sites represent an important part of everyday life for every individual, mostly due to the communications possibilities of its use. Because of this and many other functions the social media networks are becoming more and more popular and used among all generations especially the social media platform Facebook. This media is being used more and more within the educational area, mostly in the field of tertiary education, where both students and professors use the platform as a new didactic tool. With its new different functions, it fills the gaps between the formal and informal learning. The purpose of the dissertation is to study how the students of the faculties of Maribor (Faculty of Education, Faculty of Art, Faculty of Electrical engineering, computer science and information technology, Faculty of natural science and maths) use the social media Facebook for educational studies during the university year. With the research we were interested in what way the students use Facebook, how often they use it and for what purposes. In lines with this we studied the use of Facebook based on sex, year of study and their study success rate. We analysed the relationship between Facebook for social purposes and indirect interactions in the real world, as well as the relationship between using Facebook for social purposes and overcoming social capital. The data for analysing were gained with the help of a simple sample from the students of FF UM, PEF, FNM and FERRI (N + 326). The results of the analysis of the empirical data revealed that the students of both sexes most often use Facebook to maintain already established relationships and social bonds as well as creating new ones. Another important reason listed was the use for educational purposes. Along with a large number of virtual friends on Facebook, the bonds in every-day life are upheld as well and the users do not feel that Facebook has a negative impact on the interactions in their real-life interactions. With the increase in the number of "regular friends" the increase is also reflected in the number of "Facebook friends". Through the research we also discovered that the intensive use of Facebook for social purposes is positively linked with the students' overcoming social capital. Those students who use Facebook more often for social purposes also use it more often for educational purposes. The students also extensively use Facebook to obtain information and study materials such as Moodle. Our research has confirmed that female students more often use Facebook for educational purposes in comparison to their male counterparts. The results also showed that there are statistical differences between different age groups when using the platform for education. The most frequent use goes to the students of year 3, but often use can also be seen with students of year 1 and 4. The use of the social media is not liked to the results and success of the students. The results of the analysis in relation to using Facebook for educational purposes are very similar between all the faculties we compared, and we concluded that there are no statistically obvious differences between them, when it comes to using the social media.
