njegov razvoj od mestnega do pokrajinskega muzeja Ptuj
Povzetek
Ptujčani so z ustanovitvijo Muzejskega društva začeli z organiziranimi arheološkimi izkopavanji in s sočasno prezentacijo nabranega gradiva. Ti so s svojim prostovoljnim delom omogočili zametke bogate muzejske zbirke in ohranitev ptujske kulturne dediščine.

History of the Ptuj's museum |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
Townspeople of Ptuj city founded the Museum association with the purpose to organize archaeological excavations and present the gathered material. They set up the first museum collection, where archaeological findings were presented. The museum collection is still undergoing expansion and enrichment. The collector Franc Ferk donated his culture-historical collection to the town of Ptuj. It has proven to be the most valuable donation in the museum's history. With this action the City Ferk's museum and the City Ferk's library were founded. For the sake of Ferk's museum, the Museum association had to give up ownership of their collections. Even after the dispute between Ferk and other members of the Museum association work continued. Other important patrons were found who financed archaeological excavations or purchased valuable artworks. The Museum association worked nonstop until the First World War. Among its members were important Ptuj's bourgeois families of German and Slovene origin. Their voluntary work allowed for the beginnings of a rich museum collection and the preservation of the Ptuj cultural heritage. After World War I, museum activities were renewed. Members of the Museum association continued with the promotion of the Museum and enabled cohesive archaeological research. Between both world wars they gained a new museum building in which they could exhibit rich museum collections. The Second World War interrupted activities of the Museum association, but the Museum worked also during the occupation. After the war, the Museum became a state institution which was in 1960s transformed into the Regional Museum of Ptuj. The museum organized new departments and professional employees, which took care of the museum collections. The Museum gained the Ptuj castle with its entire interior furnishing which was later transformed into a culture-historical collection. Despite being protected by the state and the municipality, they were constantly confronted with lack of financial resources and of space. After Slovenia gained independence in 1991, some collections obtained the status of national collections, for example the collection of weapons, the collection of musical instruments, the collection of tapestries and the archaeological collection. |
