diplomsko delo
Povzetek
Diplomsko delo se bo ukvarjalo z analizo retoričnih figur v treh Shakespearovih delih - Juliju Cezarju, Othellu in Macbethu. Pri tem si bomo najprej pogledali in razjasnili, kaj so retorične figure, kakšna je njihova vloga in kako so se razvile, nato pa bomo nadaljevali s povzetkom Shakespearovega življenja in njegove pisateljske poti, saj nam bo to omogočilo lažje razumevanje naslednje snovi. Ob podanih izvirnih in prevedenih citatih bomo poskušali pojasniti vlogo retoričnih figur in jih poiskati v citatu.

This diploma dissertation deals with the analysis of the rhetorical devices in three of Shakespeare's plays - Julius Caesar, Othello, and Macbeth. The very first chapter dealing with rhetorical devices tries to explain what those devices are, how they developed over time, and how we use them. Following this, there is a description of Shakespeare's life and work since this provides a lot of useful information with respect to the following topics. This short introduction is then followed by the main subject of the diploma dissertation - the detailed analysis of the given plays. The analysis mainly focuses on the use of rhetoric that could be found in connection with the following characters: Anthony, Iago, Lady Macbeth, and the three witches. Stemming from this analysis is a concluding thought that all the mentioned characters use rhetoric and rhetorical devices in order to manipulate - a fact that presents the very core of this bachelor's thesis. We can, therefore, make a conclusion that there are several similarities between the mentioned tragedies - similarities that are, perhaps, not directly visible when taking a brief look at the plays. Those similarities are dealt with in the seventh chapter where an analysis of various examples of rhetorical devices can be found. Those analyses include examples originating from the original text as well as their translations. This enables us to make a comparison between the original text in English and their counterparts in Slovene. Those comparisons also provide an estimate of how suitable the translations of both translators (Župančič and Jesih) are. In addition, there is an explanation of the usage of rhetorical devices in every quote that is given. |
