V prvi vrsti zabavo in zadovoljstvo. Kmalu bomo prišli do točke, ko bodo mladim pristni, medosebni odnosi s prijatelji in družino, postali nepomembni.

Sekundarni povzetek: Information technology is our recent past, present and future. It is hard to predict the extent of its development, therefore, we are unsure how technology will influence our behaviour, way of thinking, relationships and everyday life in general. Smart phones and tablets have slowly creeped in our lives and become an extension of our bodies. We feel anxious and uncomfortable regardless of the time we spend without them. Mature and responsible grown up individuals who have set their priorities and established values over a period of time, can sometimes struggle gaining control over the »new drug«, therefore, the society cannot expect children, teenagers and young adults to behave any different. They are unaware of the harm that daily use of mobile devices and social media can cause. In their case, technology is used mainly as an entertainment tool. An early stage of puberty is important time in our lives, it is time to develop social skills, spend time with peers and make new friendships. Socialising used to happen in schools, on the playgrounds in the neighbourhood and during afternoon activities. This has however changed in the last years, children stopped playing on the playgrounds and most of their time is spent behind that small never-ending-joy screen. Not only kids, adults as well prefer non-verbal and virtual conversations over traditional ways of communication. As a result, lack of real and genuine daily interactions have a negative effect on everyone involved especially children and youngsters. They do not develop basic social skills earlier in life which would then help them establish more complex relationships later on. Sooner or later they get to a point when face-to-face interactions with their friends and family become unimportant and irrelevant since social networking sites fulfil their desire to be accepted either amongst their peers or in the wider social circle. Beside all weaknesses and disadvantages related to the development of modern technology, one of the biggest issues adolescents are facing is cyber bullying. Modern cyber abuse nowadays appears in all forms and shapes that were previously unknown and consequences are even bigger and more harmful than they used to be. Fortunately for our society, there are more and more studies and researches digging deeper into this very complex phenomenon. A lot still needs to be done especially among youngsters. The thesis focuses on primary school pupils, 9th graders in particular, therefore, an age group that is going through a very critical period of life which is significant in terms of personal development. We were interested to know how social media and mobile devices affect lives of 14 year olds, existing relationships and ability to make new ones, to what extent they are familiar with cyberbullying and what is their perception of this big issue the society is facing.
