magistrsko delo

Diploma paper The Influence of Media on Physical Activity of Preschool Children in the Countryside and in the City consists of theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part introduces the importance of physical activities to the holistic development of children and how to inform them about the (positive and negative) influence of media; as well as it highlights the role of the children's family and their place of residence (city and countryside). The empirical part contains the interpretation of results, based on a questionnaire, which was carried out among 100 parents of children attending kindergarten Gorišnica and kindergarten Ptuj. The descriptive and causal-non-experimental methods of pedagogical research were used in our study. The purpose of the research was to determine the influence of media on physical activity of preschool children in the countryside and in the city. The results suggest that there is very little difference in media awareness and thus children's reduced physical activity between both groups of parents. They both agree that the media can influence on the children's reduced physical activity. Parents' most common motive to allow using the computer or watching television is child's own wish. The majority of parents allow their child using the computer and watching television less than one hour per day. Moreover, children where their family spends more time (more than one hour per day) watching television or using the computer are less physical active than children where their family is less influenced by media (less than one hour per day). Children who use the computer and watch television more than one hour per day are physically less active than children who are less influenced by the media; their free time mainly consists of a play and sports activities. |
