diplomsko delo
Medicinske sestre so pomembno vključene v farmakološko in nefarmakološko lajšanje bolečine, saj znajo bolečino oceniti in pravilno ukrepati. Uporabili smo ključne besede in besedne zveze: burns, pain, non-pharmacological relief.

Non-pharmacological pain relief in burn patients |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
Introduction: Burns are injuries that affect skin and underlying tissues. Any such injury is very painful and the treatment lengthy. When dressing a burn wound, additional pain occurs. This is an unpleasant experience for every individual, regardless of age or gender. Nurses play an important role in pharmacological and non-pharmacological pain relief as they are qualified to evaluate the pain and to react properly. Purpose: The purpose of the diploma work is to present non-pharmacological approaches to pain relief in burn patients and their effectiveness. Methods: A descriptive method with a review of Slovene and foreign technical and scientific literature from 2001 to 2019 was used for the preparation of the diploma work. Slovene literature was reviewed via co-operative bibliographic system COBISS, while English literature was obtained from databases Science Direct, Medline and CINAHL. We used the following keywords and word phrases: burns, pain, non-pharmacological relief. Results: Non-pharmacological approaches to pain relief with aromatherapy, music and hypnosis have proven to be effective methods for mitigating pain. All these methods have had a positive effect on the patient’s satisfaction, pain level, which has reduced, and have contributed to the treatment of the burn wounds. Discussion and conclusion: “Relieving the pain is a divine act” is an ancient wisdom that is still relevant today. Pain is an unpleasant experience and is a part of the subjective experiencing of every individual. Non-pharmacological methods of pain relief contribute to holistic treatment of the patient that is supposed to feel pleasure, while fear and anxiety should be reduced. Pain is definitely present in burn patient, and the goal is to relieve it. An important role here plays a nurse, who needs to know well various ways of non-pharmacological pain relief and adapt them individually to each patient. |
