Sekundarni naslov: ǂThe ǂeffect of three different cognitive tasks on timed up and go test results in physically active older adults
Sekundarni povzetek: Introduction: Timed up and go test (TUG) with an additional cognitive task is often used to identify changes in postural control and for fall prediction. The purpose of the study was to compare the results of three different cognitive tasks on the TUG test and to determine which of the three tasks is most suitable for the clinical use. Methods: 19 elderly persons participated in the study. They performed four TUG tests, no cognitive task, added subtraction of no. three, no. seven and naming animals. The differences between individual tests were calculated as well as the dual task cost. Results: The TUG tests with additional cognitive task were significantly longer compared to the results with the test without additional task (p <0.05). The results of the TUG tests with added cognitive tasks were not significantly different. The correlation between the TUG test with different tasks is moderate to strong (r = 0.78–0.67; p <0.05). Conclusions: We can conclude that there are no differences between the three cognitive tasks, i.e., verbal fluency and subtraction task therefore they are all equally suitable for clinical use. The calculation of dual task cost allows comparison between the results of various added cognitive tasks and of different assessors.
