magistrsko delo
Znane vrste so bile Apodemus flavicollis, Apodemus fulvipectus, Apodemus witherbyi, Apodemus ponticus in Apodemus uralensis.

Morphological variability in the mandible of field mice, Apodemus (Rodentia, Muridae) from Southwestern Asia |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
Into the genus Apodemus sp., we include small to medium-sized mice that have a small elongated head and a long muzzle, a relatively long and moderately hairy tail, and a skin that is dense and soft, dark brown to gray. The purpose of this master's thesis was to analyze morphological variability of the mandible of the wood mouse, Apodemus sp., in Southwest Asia through the methods of geometric morphometrics from the perspective of belonging to a species, sex, geographical location, and morphotypes. We joined the selected areas of Southwest Asia into six major geographical areas which are Afghanistan, Georgia, India, Iran, Nepal, and Syria. The known species were Apodemus flavicollis, Apodemus fulvipectus, Apodemus witherbyi, Apodemus ponticus, and Apodemus uralensis. Sexual dimorphism was not statistically significant. There was a characteristic geographical variability in the size and shape of the mandibles between the geographical species and areas. Specimens without any known taxonomic identity from Afghanistan and Nepal could belong to two morphotypes considering the size and the shape of the jawbone. |
