magistrsko delo

Sekundarni naslov: ǂThe ǂuse of visual timetables in preschool programme for children with special needs
Sekundarni povzetek: Generally, children with special needs learn to live with their disabilities. However, much of their success at it can be attributed to being individually treated by a professional, who chooses methods and approach suitable to their needs. The theoretical part of the paper presents the subject of children with special needs in the preschool age. The emphasis is on structured teaching based on TEACCH Method which involves the physical arrangement of space, consistency of activities, visually structured tasks, and the scheduling of time through routines and timetables. The empirical part examines the effects of visual timetables on the adaptability, manifestation of anxiety, development of social skills and communication, and the level of independence of children who are included in the adjusted program for preschool children at the Centre for Hearing and Speech Maribor and who all have different disorders and disabilities. All the monitored children have different speech and hearing problems, and some also some other ones such as the possibility of autistic spectrum disorder, mental development disorder, long-term disease, physical disability. The implementation of visual timetables had positive effects since most children showed progress in all the five observed areas.
