magistrsko delo
Takšnega mnenja so bili vsi intervjuvani.
Takšnega mnenja so bili vsi (100 %) intervjuvani.

The role of values and cultural diversity in a cosmetic company |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
The master's thesis focuses on the study of the role of values in cultural diversity. Each country has its cultural background, standards of thinking and acting. Cultural differences have had a strong impact on the business world and choosing the wrong country is financially risky. The company, therefore, needs to find out information about culturally different values that affect the sensibility in doing business across countries.
Master's thesis purpose is a careful examination of the impact of cultural differences on the work efficiency in a Swedish cosmetics company operating in Slovenia, with external contractors from India, and to give some guidelines for the systematized approach of the company to the analysis of the cultural environment.
In the empirical part, the interview method presents the results of a survey of the factors that management of the analyzed company should study before the start of outsourcing from India. Besides that, the thesis includes analysis of the obstacles of this collaboration and of measures to overcome them.
The survey showed that before outsourcing from India analysis of cultural factors should be made, and should have included the unambiguous understanding of the texts/messages and grammar, the absence from the work because of the high number of holidays (44 days a year), the perception of time that influences timely performance, responsibility and responsiveness (meeting deadlines, the quality of the work done), the need for detailed instructions to perform the work, frequency of changing jobs, the outflow of knowledge, poor education and the need for intercultural education. This was the opinion of all the interviewees.
The research helped to identify the biggest obstacles to doing business with outsourcing companies in India, which include language barriers, not accepting–shifting the responsibility, differences in perception of time, low level of education, dependence at work and frequent fluctuation. The consequences of cultural differences show the poor quality of work outsourced from India. A measure that could remove these obstacles is the intercultural education of service provider and contractors. All the interviewees (100%) had this opinion. 80% of interviewees think an important measure to deal with the issue is gaining communication skills of service provider and contractors.
Based on the findings of our research, we developed our instrument, a questionnaire that allows a company to systematically analyze risks and prevent business obstacles that could arise by entering a collaboration with a market dominated by Hinduism (the Indian subcontinent). |
