Povzetek
Magistrsko delo "Podoba žensk in moških v medijih" se nanaša na velik pomen medijev na posameznikovo življenje. Ti imajo v zadnjem času takšen vpliv, kot ga niso imeli še nikoli do sedaj. So vir informacij in zabave, igrajo pomembno vlogo pri socializaciji posameznikov, prav tako odsevajo socialni in kulturni svet. Prenašajo odkrita in prikrita sporočila ter ob vsebinah in informacijah posredujejo tudi vrednote, čustva in sodbe. Teoretični del razlaga, kaj mediji dandanes pravzaprav so - so nekakšna avtoriteta, saj določajo, kaj je prav, kaj je fantazija, kaj je pomembno in kaj ni. Največkrat vsebujejo stereotipe - pogosto tudi spolne stereotipe, ki so posplošene značilnosti, vedenja, sposobnosti in interesi, ki so opredeljeni le na podlagi spola. Stereotipi nato pri prejemnikih sporočil medijev ustvarjajo neko nerealno in nepravično predstavo o moških in ženskah, ki močno vplivajo na posameznikovo življenje. Empirični del odgovarja na vprašanja, ali se dandanes v medijih še vedno srečujemo s stereotipnimi družbenimi vzorci (in če ja, s katerimi?), ali se v medijih pogosteje pojavljajo moški ali ženske (še posebej pri člankih s področja športa), ali sami članki vsebujejo fotografije moških ali žensk (ter na kateri del telesa moškega ali ženske je usmerjena pozornost na fotografijah). Z analizo sem ugotovila, da so moški, kot je bilo glede na mojo hipotezo tudi pričakovano, v medijih pogosteje predstavljeni kot aktivni in agresivni, ženske pa kot pasivne in ponižne. Prav tako sem ugotovila, da so športni članki v medijih večinoma namenjeni moškim športnikom. Pri pregledu slik ob člankih sem ugotovila, da je pri moških fotografijah večji poudarek na predstavitvi glave, pri ženskih fotografijah pa bolj na predstavitvi celotnega telesa. S tem sem potrdila svoje hipoteze, prav tako se rezultati moje analize skladajo z rezultati drugih. S pomočjo analize sem pobliže spoznala, kakšna podoba moških in žensk je predstavljena v medijih. Prav tako sem spoznala, kakšne vloge zavzemajo moški in kakšne ženske ter posredno kakšni so odnosi znotraj družbe.

The master's thesis "Presentation of Women and Men in Media" deals with the great importance of the media in an individual's life. These have had such an impact lately as they have never had before. They are a source of information and entertainment, play an important role in the socialization of individuals, and also reflect the social and cultural world. They convey overt and covert messages and, in addition to content and information, they also convey values, emotions and judgments. The theoretical part explains what the media really are today - they are a kind of authority, as they determine what is right, what is fantasy, what is important and what is not. They most often contain stereotypes - often also gender stereotypes, which are generalized characteristics, behaviours, abilities, and interests that are defined solely on the basis of gender. Stereotypes then create an unrealistic and unfair presentation of men and women, among the recipients of media messages, which have a great impact on an individual's life. The empirical part answers the questions whether we still encounter stereotypical social patterns in the media today (and if so, which ones?), whether men or women appear more often in the media (especially in sports articles), or the articles themselves contain photographs of men or women (and which part of the body of a man or a woman is the focus of attention in the photographs). Through the analysis, I have found that men, as predicted in my hypothesis, are more often presented in the media as active and aggressive, whereas women as passive and humble. I have also found that sports articles in the media are mostly aimed at male athletes. When reviewing the images next to the articles, I found that in photographs of men there is more emphasis on the presentation of the head, whereas in photographs of women there is more emphasis on the presentation of the whole body. By doing so, I confirmed my hypotheses, and the results of my analysis are also consistent with the findings of others. With the help of this analysis, I got a closer look at what the image of men and women is presented in the media. I also learned about the roles of men and women and, indirectly, about the relationships within society. |
