Namen: Predstaviti obravnavo otrok s shizo in življenje njihovih staršev. Metode dela: Pregledali smo strokovno in znanstveno literaturo v slovenkem in angleškem jeziku povezano s to tematiko (prikaz primera). Vsak posameznik je individum in vsaka obravnava je posebna in edinstvena. Zdravstveni delavci igrajo pomembno vlogo pri spopadanju, sprejemanju in pomoči staršem. Razprava in zaključek: Biti drugačen ni nekaj enostavnega.

Sekundarni naslov: Management of child with cleft lip and palate and parents' experiences
Sekundarni povzetek: Introduction: Cleft lip and palate is a congenital anomaly of the face, which in many layers covers various areas of the human body. It is one of the most common congenital anomalies in the world. Affected the whole family. Purpose: The purpose is to present the treatment of children with cleft lip and palate and the lives of their parents. Methods: We reviewed the professional literature related to this topic. In the reasearch part, we presented an analysis of interviews with parents whose child was born with cleft lip and palate. Results: Based on the analyzed and presented results and a comparison with the professional literature, we summarize that the birth of a child with cleft lip and palate is a stressful event for parents. It depends on the individual how he will react to this diagnosis, how he will prepare for it, what path of treatment he will take and how he will raise the child. Each person is an individual and each treatment is special and unique. Health workers play an important role in coping, accepting and helping parents Discussion and conclusion: Being different is not easy. Being sick with visible scars is even less so. It is important that we raise awareness and educate people, thus creating a society open to difference.
