Sekundarni naslov: Insights into the research activity of nurses in the area of complex wound management in Slovenia
Sekundarni povzetek: Introduction: A wound is defined as broken continuity of the skin or deeper lying structures due to the influence of internal and/or external factors. Wounds are divided into two categories, acute and complex. Studies show the prevalence of complex wounds is estimated between 1-2% of the total population. Complex wounds are unpleasant for the patient, affect the quality of life, their treatment is long-lasting and consequently connected with high expenses of the treatment and other negative effects on the health care system and society. Purpose: The aim of the thesis was to acquire an insight into the research of nurses in the field of complex wound management in Slovenia in the past ten years. The objective was to highlight the area of research of treatment of complex wounds and to identify the characteristics of the research up to this point (areas which have been the subject of research and those that have been ignored in previous research). Methods: A descriptive method of was used. A thematic review of scientific and professional literature which had been published in Slovenia in Slovenian and English has been carried out. Literature has been searched through a bibliographic-catalogue database COBIB.SI from 2010 to 2019. Disquisition and conclusion: A review of the literature identified research areas of complex wound treatment activities. Main questions with previous research in the area of treatment of complex wounds were connected with making every endeavour to improve the quality of work, empowering patients, educating healthcare professionals in this field and achieving integrated and comprehensive patient care. It can be concluded that a quantitative research approach prevails. The problem of accessibility to publications of various research is perceived. Targeted action to increase the interest and knowledge of all healthcare professionals in research is necessary.
