Metode: V zaključnem delu smo uporabili kvalitativno metodologijo raziskovanja z metodo fokusnih skupin članov tima zdravstvene nege in oskrbe v domovih za starostnike. Temeljnega pomena je usmerjanje in vključevanje svojcev v obravnavo, saj so svojci premalo vključeni in seznanjeni s paliativno oskrbo.

Sekundarni naslov: Nursing staff experiences with providing palliative care at nursing homes
Sekundarni povzetek: Introduction: The number of older people with chronic, noncontagious diseases needing palliative care in nursing homes is rising. The nursing staff team members must possess enough knowledge and experience in palliative care, which they properly incorporate in their work. Methods: In this thesis, qualitative research methodology with the method of focus groups was used. Focus groups were conducted with the nursing staff in nursing homes. Data were analysed using content analysis. Results: Three main themes were created: Staff experience, The obstacles, and issues of the palliative care staff, and Palliative care knowledge. The employees possess enough experience to perform palliative care; however, they lack knowledge, instructions, and guidelines for timely integration and quality assurance. Consequently, employee education and a more extensive incorporation of palliative care in education are needed. Discussion: The level of palliative care knowledge among the nursing staff members in nursing homes is low. Additional education on palliative care is necessary. In their work, the employees face personnel shortage and the lack of qualified palliative care teams. The integration of the patients' relatives in palliative care is too low; therefore, directing and integrating them into the treatment process is vital.
