Sledi kratek pregled osnovnih diagnostičnih metod in vrst zdravljenja. Razložene so teoretske osnove zdravstvene nege in pojasnjena procesna metoda dela.

Sekundarni naslov: Nursing care of patient after spine injury
Sekundarni povzetek: The first part of my thesis consists of a definition of the topographic and functional anatomy of the spine, and then the most frequent spine injuries are described. Further on there is a short overview of basic diagnostic methods and sorts of treatment. Spine injuries are most likely to happen in the working environment, in traffic and at sport activities. Dislocation of cervical spine is the most frequent spine injury and must be treated conservatively. Total paralysis of upper and lower limbs (tetraplegia) can be a consequence of unstable fractures of the cervical spine with accompanying spinal cord dammage. This kind of injuries are nowadays treated with operations. Further on there are explanations of theoretical bases of nursing care and the procedure of working methods. Practical performing of nursing care is based on the specificity of the pacient's medical condition and problems in fulfilling basic life activities, defined by Virginia Henderson. The specialist of nursing care is an indispensable member of the medical and rehabilitation team, within which he/she performs an independent nursing care and cooperates in diagnostic – therapeutic treatment by performing several medical and technical interventions, especially with hospitalized and operated patients. The aim of the nursing care service is to perform a wholesome and quality nursing care based on the principles of expertise, humanity, morality and ethics.
