Sekundarni naslov: Women and children - the most common victims of domestic violence and abuse
Sekundarni povzetek: Domestic violence, which mainly affects women and children, is one of the most common violations of human rights and human dignity, as well as discrimination against women. For the issue of domestic violence and the fight against it, it is extremely important to talk about it. Society must internalize the fact that this is not a problem that belongs to the private sphere of an individual family, but it is a problem of the whole society and each of us bears social responsibility. It is necessary to understand the frequency of domestic violence and stop deluding about the "rarity" of this phenomenon, as it is quite possible that one of the people close to us is a victim of domestic violence and does not dare to admit it, because like most victims, they are afraid no one will believe them and they will not get the help or that it will only get worse after the confession. Collective social awareness and social responsibility are, of course, extremely important, but the state is primarily responsible for solving the problem in question, and it must tackle it comprehensively. To address domestic violence, it must provide the full legislative and policy framework, as well as ensure the successful cooperation of institutions, bodies and organizations that represent the national network of aid providers. Special programs should be used to provide help to perpetrators of violence who have learned violent behavior during their lifetime. Such programs should provide appropriate professional support if perpetrators are aware of their problem and are willing to work on themselves. Most importantly, the message for all victims, perpetrators of violence and society as a whole is that violence is completely unacceptable, that there is no excuse for it and that the perpetrator is always solely responsible for it, never the victim.
