Literaturo smo pridobili s pomočjo podatkovnih baz CINAHL, MEDLINE in SCOPUS. S pomočjo izključitvenih in vključitvenih dejavnikov smo omejili število člankov. Potek pridobivanja literature smo ponazorili v diagramu PRISMA. S pregledom strokovne in znanstvene literature smo v analizo vključili 12 raziskav v angleškem jeziku.

Sekundarni naslov: Experiences of families concerning organ donation of a brain dead family member
Sekundarni povzetek: Introduction: Coping with a patient’s brain death poses a major challenge for their relatives, especially when the patient has not expressed a written desire to donate their organs during their lifetime. When deciding on and experiencing the process of organ donation and transplantation, relatives face various doubts, as organ transplantation of the deceased involves a wide range of moral and ethical issues. The purpose of the final work is to explore and describe the experience of relatives when deciding to donate the organs of a brain-dead family member. Methods: The thesis was written using a descriptive method. The literature was obtained through the CINAHL, MEDLINE, and SCOPUS databases. We limited the number of articles using exclusion and inclusion factors. The process of obtaining literature was presented in the PRISMA diagram. With a systematic review of professional and scientific literature, 12 English articles are included in the analysis. Results: We found that relatives experience stress when they decide to donate organs from a brain-dead family member; they are faced with sadness, shock due to sudden death, fear and doubts. There is also often a conflict between relatives. Discussion and conclusion: It is easier for relatives to decide to donate organs when the deceased had expressed a desire for organ donation during their lifetime. It would be easier for relatives to have the support of the whole family and the health workers during the decision-making process; they would also benefit from access to psychological help, which the whole family could turn to in times of need and doubt. The decision to donate organs would require more information and an education of the entire population, as it is still a taboo topic.
