Povzetek

Spanje je ena izmed osnovnih življenjskih aktivnosti človeka. V starosti so motnje spanja pogostejše. Med njimi je nespečnost na prvem mestu. Pojem nespečnosti je subjektiven, saj izraža človekov občutek kakovosti spanja. Fiziologijo spanja urejata dva mehanizma, cirkadiani ritem in homeostaza. Starostniki so v večini primerov izboljševali svoje spanje z jemanjem tablet. V manjši meri so jim v pomoč nemedikamentozni ukrepi. Dobro spanje zagotavlja pomemben doprinos h kakovosti življenja.

Sekundarni naslov: SLEEPING PROCESS IN ELDERY
Sekundarni povzetek: Sleep is one of the primary life activities of human being. In older age the sleep disorder is more often and insomnia is the number one of its cause. The term of insomnia is subjective, because it expresses human feeling of sleep quality. Two mechanisms organize the physiology of sleep, circadian rhythm and homeostasis. Sleep is composed of five phases within one cycle, which is repeated three to five times during the night. In graduate thesis we examine elderly people between 65 and 80 years old. With Questionnaire we search for the quality of sleep, morning satisfaction (contentment) after waking, the need for daily rest (nap), possible causes of sleep disorder and the necessary measures for its improvement, what is named the hygiene of sleep. The results of research proved, that elderly people has problems with sleep more often. The main cause of sleep disorder was the presence of physical factor. Two factors were exposed, the problems with urinating and pain, as the most frequent disorders. Mental factors were less important, meanwhile the environmental factors did not have essential influence on sleep disorder. Elderly people, in most cases, improved their sleep with taking pills. In less extent the non medical measures were used. The health - educational activity of nurse was defined, which has an important role in education of elderly people and their relatives in achieving good sleep. Good sleep ensures the important contribution in quality of living.
