Sekundarni naslov: Long-term quality of life of women with breast cancer
Sekundarni povzetek: Introduction: In Slovenia the 5-year survival of breast cancer patients increased by 3 %, so the rehabilitation of patients is intended for improving the quality of life and not just to prolong life. The purpose of this final work is to find out how patients with breast cancer, 5 years or more after diagnosis, assess their quality of life. Methods: Quantitative research methodology was used. Data was obtained with the help of an online survey. The enclosed sample included 22 women, members of support groups for breast cancer patients. The data obtained were analysed using descriptive statistics. Results: We found out that 72 % of women 5 years or more after diagnosis rated their quality of life mostly better than before diagnosis. Some negative consequences were perceived. 54 % are very worried, when they get sick, 46 % are not interested in sex so much, problems with walking upstairs and problems with uncertainty have 41 % of women, 23 % of them have memory problems. However, positive results were also observed. 82 % believe that since they have beaten breast cancer, they are strong and also 82 % of women say they can rely on their loved ones. Only 9 % have problems with self-esteem. Discussion and conclusion: Despite the fact that most women after breast cancer have a good assessment of their quality of life, problems are perceived in certain areas of life. It is necessary for the nurse to be aware of the importance of quality of life for the individual and to evaluate the quality of life, the latter and comprehensive rehabilitation of women suffering from breast cancer.
