pomen in posledice
Antantne sile so to izkoristile in Italiji ponudile večji del njenih ozemeljskih zahtev.

The First World War, also referred to as the Great War, is one of the most important historical events in the world. It took place on European soil, but other countries of the world also took part in it. At that time, five superpowers ruled in Europe, namely Great Britain, France and Russia, which were members of the Allied Powers, and AustriaHungary and Germany, which were connected to Italy – which otherwise considered itself a superpower, in the Central powers. The superpowers fought for territory, for the expansion of their empire, both on European soil and on other continents, in the colonies. Italy, which had an inferiority complex, has always had only one goal, which is to expand its territory and become an invincible empire. Because it failed to do so in the same way as other superpowers, that is, with military attacks and occupation, it intervened according to a different plan at the beginning of the First World War. She declared neutrality, which meant that she would not fight for anyone in the war, and offered her military power, so to speak, to those forces that would offer her more in return for her help in the war. The Entente powers took advantage of this and offered Italy most of its territorial claims. After secret negotiations they finally concluded their agreement by signing the London Agreement in April 1915. The signing of the agreement had a strong influence on the development of the First World War, one of the consequences of the signing was the Italian declaration of war on Austria-Hungary and thus the entry of Italy into the First World War. Many nations were harmed by the signing of the agreement; nations whose territory was promised to Italy without their knowledge. We, Slovenes, are also among them, as much of our ethnic territory has remained beyond the borders, together with our compatriots. |
