The Master's thesis consists of four major chapters. In the introduction, we present the objectives, purpose, hypotheses, assumptions, and limitations. Then, we describe the characteristics and classification of investment projects. Moreover, we describe investment planning as part of the management and capital investment decision-making process. We introduce the strategic analysis tools that support the capital investment decision-making process. Then, we describe the basic methods of investment appraisal, outlining their strengths and weaknesses, and discussed how to make an informed choice of methods.
In Chapter 3, we described static and discounted cash flow methods. We first described each method, introduced key terms, demonstrated it on an example, and provided a final assessment and conclusion. In Chapter 4, there is a practical demonstration of the use of methods in the company Palfinger d. o. o. After a brief presentation of the company and the investment history, we also provided an assessment of the economic feasibility of the investment project in this company based on the net present value, internal rate of return, and payback period method. In the conclusion, we confirmed and refuted the hypotheses set out in the introduction. |
