diplomsko delo univerzitetnega študijskega programa I. stopnje
MNPs z AG prevleko smo pripravili z dvema različnima metodama, in sicer z metodo adsorpcije in z metodo zamreževalne tehnike.

The role of polysaccharide adsorbent coating for heavy metals removal from water |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
Heavy metals are substances that are very important for industry and have been increasingly used in recent years due to industrial and technological progress. These substances are found naturally in the Earth's crust, but their concentration in nature has increased significantly in recent years due to human interventions. As a result, their presence in the human diet, especially in water, is increasingly common. In small quantities, some of these metals are of course necessary for humans, but in larger quantities they can be harmful to health. There are several different methods for water purification, such as chemical precipitation, ion exchange, filtration and adsorption. The latter is the most common. Several substances can be used as an adsorbent, and in our thesis we focused on magnetic nanoparticles with a polysaccharide coating of arabinogalactan (AG).
The aim of the thesis was to successfully synthesize magnetic nanoparticles with a polysaccharide coating AG and to determine the optimal conditions for the removal of heavy metals, especially chromium ions (Cr(VI)) from water. Magnetic nanoparticles with an AG coating were prepared using two different methods, the adsorption method and the crosslinking technique method.
First, we successfully synthesized AG-coated magnetic nanoparticles. These were then used to remove Cr(VI) from the aqueous solution. Using functionalized magnetic nanoparticles obtained by the adsorption method, the maximum Cr(VI) removed from the aqueous solution was at the optimal pH of the reaction medium 4, the optimal weight of the nanoparticles 50 mg and the optimal concentration of the K2Cr2O7 solution 5 g/L. When magnetic nanoparticles functionalized by the cross-linking process were used as an adsorbent, we found that the optimal pH of the reaction medium is 3, that the optimal mass of magnetic nanoparticles is 30 mg, and that the optimal concentration of the K2Cr2O7 solution is 0.75 mg/L. |
