magistrsko delo

Pupils role in co-creating art assignments in fine arts classes |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
Post-modern curricula promote pupils' active role in co-creating lessons, to cater to their needs and interests with the intention of developing students' intrinsic motivation. This way of teaching utilizes problems that relate to students' lives and the local environment, with the aim of improving the quality of learning and teaching. In this study, we examined the possibilities for art lesson design in which the pupil acts as co-creator, pupils' opinions regarding their independent choice of artistic motif and technique and the form of work, and pupils' need for cross-curricular integration.
A case study was conducted in a 9th grade art class in a primary school in Maribor, in which one didactic unit with the topic "A walk around Maribor and its surroundings" was carried out, consisting of four lessons. For evaluation of the process, both qualitative data (observations, interview, analysis of artworks) and quantitative data (questionnaires) was collected.
A key limitation for greater participation of the pupils was lack of time in the lessons, which therefore require a lot of planning and preparation in the current implementation. The possibility for pupils to choose their own motif, technique and form of work, however, yielded positive reactions. The resulting final artworks of the pupils were varied, fulfilling their desire for self-expression. As such, the pupils did not display the need for cross-curricular integration. |
