diplomsko delo
Metode: V namen priprave zaključnega dela smo pregledali znanstveno in strokovno literaturo. Literaturo smo iskali v podatkovnih bazah PubMed, CINAHL, SAGE in Web of Science, ter v podatkovni zbirki COBBISS in z brskalnikom Google Učenjak. Določili smo si vključitvene in izključitvene kriterije. Proces poteka iskanja in izbora literature smo predstavili v obliki diagrama po priporočilih PRISMA. Izbrane članke smo s pomočjo kontrolnega seznama Joanna Briggs Institute kritično ocenili. Za analizo in sintezo podatkov smo uporabili tematsko analizo.
Rezultati: V podatkovnih bazah smo skupno našli 550 zadetkov.

Parents coping with the loss of a critically ill newborn in the intensive care unit |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
Introduction: Losing a child is one of the most painful and traumatic experiences in a parent's life, leaving deep wounds and lasting impacting the parents' lives. In 2020, 2. 4 million deaths - 47% of all deaths in children under five - occurred in the neonatal period. These data show that neonatal loss is a very topical issue. The thesis aims to review how parents cope with losing their critically ill newborn in the neonatal intensive care unit.
Methods: In preparation for the thesis, we reviewed the scientific and professional literature. Literature was searched in PubMed, CINAHL, SAGE and Web of Science databases, as well as in the COBBISS database and Google Scholar. We have set inclusion and exclusion criteria. The literature search and selection process was presented in the flowchart following the PRISMA guidelines. The selected articles were critically assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute checklist. Thematic analysis was used to analyze and synthesize the data.
Results: A total of 550 hits were found in the databases. Five articles were included in the final analysis. A thematic analysis was carried out, highlighting the main themes of 1) parents' response to the loss of a newborn and 2) coping with the loss of a newborn.
Discussion and conclusion: We have found that each parent copes with losing a newborn differently, experiencing various emotions and feelings and using different coping strategies to deal with grief. While all grieving parents have in common is that being a parent of a seriously ill newborn hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit is extremely difficult and exhausting. |
