The master's thesis The Magical Worlds of Marko Jakše as Inspiration, consists of theoretical and practical work. In the theoretical part, we explore surrealism and fantastic art, which are two major historical art definitions typical for Jakše. Moreover, we discuss concepts of psychotherapist Sigmund Freud and at a certain point dissenting psychoanalyst C. G. Jung. In the latter, we discuss the analysis of myth, symbolic and archetypal, on the other hand, from Freud’s works we consider das Unheimliche and writings about humour, which is also present in works of Jakše. Moreover, we examine the notions of grotesque and terrifying, which concerns the aesthetics as a philosophical science about art. As an introduction to the practical part of the thesis, we firstly undertook the formal analysis of Jakše’s selected work Miracle Fishing. Based on the theoretical work and our point of view, we created a sketch, which we produced in the digital form and later started painting in the oil paint technique. The aim was to create our own work in a dialogue with Jakše’s artistic poetics. |
