Povzetek

Namen diplomskega dela je raziskati povezanost med empatijo staršev in empatijo njihovega otroka ter ugotoviti, kako je empatija med starši in otrokom povezana. Zanimalo nas je, ali obstajajo pomembne razlike v empatiji med dečki in deklicami v obdobju zgodnjega otroštva glede na starost. Raziskavo smo opravili s pomočjo Testa empatije (Baron-Cohen in Wheelwright, 2004). Sodelovalo je 105 staršev in njihovi predšolski otroci. Pridobljene podatke smo obdelali s programom Microsoft Excel in programom IBM SPSS Statistics. Rezultati testa empatije so pokazali, da obstaja pomembna povezanost med empatijo staršev in empatijo njihovih otrok, da je spol otroka povezan s stopnjo empatije in da se stopnja empatije s starostjo otrok ne spreminja. V razlagi rezultatov smo poudarili, da je stopnja empatije povezana s spoznavnim in miselnim razvojem otroka in da je tako dobro, da vzgojitelji poznajo otrokove socialne možnosti.

Sekundarni naslov: The connection between the parents' empathy and their children's empathy
Sekundarni povzetek: This thesis explores the connection between parent's empathy and their children's empathy and how the connection between the empathy of parents and their children is established. We pose the question whether there are any statistically significant differences in empathy between girls and boys during the period of early childhood and whether there are any differences based on the children's age. Our research was conducted using the Empathy Quotient Test (Baron-Cohen and Wheelwright, 2004) on 105 parents and their preschool children. The gathered data was processed using Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS Statistics. The results show a significant statistical correlation between parents' empathy and their children's empathy, that gender can have an impact on the degree of empathy and that the children's age did not have any effect on the degree of empathy. In the discussion we emphasize that the degree of empathy correlates with the cognitive and intellectual development of the child which can be advantageous when teachers familiarize themselves with the child's social capabilities.
