V veliki meri so še vedno prisotni v poslovnem svetu, kjer so jim že dolgo časa podvržene predvsem ženske.

Sekundarni naslov: ǂThe ǂinfluence of gender stereotypes on the role of women in intercultural business negotiations
Sekundarni povzetek: Despite today's social progress, gender stereotypes still remain present, affecting all areas of our personal life. Gender stereotypes are mostly formed on the basis of traditional norms, which affects behavior, expectations and roles related to gender. To large extent, they are still present in the business world, where mainly women have been subjected to them for a long time. In the business world, we encounter situations that require effective conflict resolution, reaching agreements and achieving goals, which makes negotiations a key communication tool for many companies. We often unconsciously involve gender stereotypes in negotiations processes, which form a false perception of roles and authority and influence the behavior of the participants. As a result, especially female negotiators face contempt, underestimation of their competences, lack of equal opportunities and proof of their abilities. Since understanding the impact of these stereotypes is key to the development of the necessary measures and strategies that would promote gender equality and improve the position of female negotiators, we decided to research in our thesis what negotiations are, we decided to research in our thesis what negotiations and how they take place , as well as what gender stereotypes are and their impact on negotiation process. We also focused on three countires, Sweden, Japan and Slovenia, and analyzed in more detail their culture, business etiquette, business customs, negotiations and the position of women in the business world. This was followed by a comparison of women's negotiations in the mentioned countries. We also set up four questions with which we sought to find out whether women in Sweden play a strong role in negotiations, whether there are differences between male and female negotiators in Japan, whether women in Slovenia are neglected in the negotiation process and whether verbal and non-verbal communication, negotiation tactics and goals of women differ in these three countries. We found that gender stereotypes have a negative effect on women in negotiations. Based on stereotypes, they are expected to be cooperative, kind and compassionate and not self-promoting, which is a barrier for them. If female negotiators do not adhere to the ascribed stereotypical behavior, they face various consequences in their careers. When comparing female negotiators, the biggest difference between the countries was observed in the role of women in the negotiation group, where women in Sweden play a strong role due to the low presence of stereotypes, in Japan women rarely participate in negotiations, as there is patriarchal mentality, while in Slovenia women have more a collaborative role, due to the still present inequalities between the sexes. All women use respectful speech patterns, are patient, emotional and indirect and must adhere to the prescribed non-verbal behavior of the country's culture. They use empathic and cooperative negotiation tactics and are committed to long-term relationships, achieving long-term benefits, and are inclined to cooperate and compromise.
