diplomsko delo univerzitetnega študijskega programa Varstvoslovje
Povzetek
V zaključnem delu so predstavljeni problemi zdravstvene oskrbe nosečnic v zaporih in težave, s katerimi se soočajo. V prvem delu zaključnega dela smo preučili značilnosti in zdravstveno nego nosečih zapornic.

The position of pregnant women in prisons in the USA and Great Britain |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
The diploma work presents the problem of health care for pregnant women in prisons and the difficulties they face. In the first part of the thesis, the characteristics and health care of pregnant prisoners were examined. We reviewed the scientific and professional literature and found that many prisons lack the means, equipment or staff to provide adequate prenatal and postnatal care and other health services, such as access to abortion, substance abuse treatment or treatment of mental illness. Inadequate or lack of health care can seriously jeopardise the health of an incarcerated mother and her child. In the second part of the study, we conducted a comparative analysis of the situation of pregnant convicted women in the US and Great Britain in order to identifying possible differences in the treatment of pregnant prisoners. In addition to using descriptive methods to illustrate the situation, we analysed statistics data. It has been found that the decentralized criminal justice system in the US leads to disparities in the quality and accessibility of health care for pregnant inmates. There are also differences in the availability and number of units for incarcerated mothers and their children, as these are more widespread in Great Britain. Both countries face widespread use of psychoactive substances and mental health problems among pregnant women prisoners, as well as a failure to provide adequate medical and psychiatric care. The problemtic practice of the confinement of women prisoners during pregnancy or after childbirth remains a pressing issue in both jurisdictions. |
