Ensuring a family-friendly working environment plays a crucial role in successfully balancing the professional and private (family) lives of employees. Managing these two roles of individuals brings numerous positive effects both for employees and organizations. The effects manifest in employee satisfaction, organizational commitment, higher productivity, and lower absenteeism rates. The introduction and implementation of measures within the framework of obtaining the Family-Friendly Company certificate thus represent an important step towards achieving these effects. Therefore, the master's thesis examines the effects of Family-Friendly Company certificate measures on employee satisfaction with balancing professional and private (family) life in four selected nursing homes, which is also the main purpose of the master thesis. A survey was conducted in these organizations using a questionnaire. The findings confirmed that the introduced Family-Friendly Company measures contribute to improving the work environment. Less overtime work and reduced involvement in caregiving activities during leisure time positively affect the balance between work and private life and reduce the burden on employees. However, some challenges and limitations in the implementation of these measures were also identified, such as reduced presence of presenteeism among employees, which can negatively affect employee well-being and productivity. The master's thesis provides practical guidelines for organizations in the public sector, especially in nursing homes, on how to improve the work environment with measures for balancing professional and private life, thus increasing employee satisfaction in balancing professional and private obligations. Additionally, the thesis emphasizes the need for further research in the field of family-friendly policies in organizations caring for the elderly, as well as the development of new approaches to improving employee conditions. This will contribute to a better understanding of the link between family-friendly policies, employee satisfaction with balancing professional and private life, and the quality of care in nursing homes. |
